E-Collar Training
E-collar training can be added to my Board and Train program or Day Training for clients who are looking for an additional communication tool to improve reliability and clarity with their dog. Serving La Quinta and the Coachella Valley, this training is introduced in a thoughtful, structured way to ensure dogs fully understand the system.
What Is An E-Collar?
An e-collar (electronic collar) is a remote communication tool that allows for clear, consistent communication between you and your dog.
It uses low-level stimulation—similar to a light tap or muscle stimulation—to get the dog’s attention and guide behavior. When properly introduced, it is not painful or used as punishment, but instead becomes a way to reinforce known commands and improve reliability both on and off leash.
What is E-Collar Training & Why Use It?
E-collar training is a communication-based system that uses an electronic collar as a tool to improve clarity, consistency, and reliability with your dog.
The e-collar is often misunderstood, but when properly introduced and conditioned, it becomes a highly effective way to communicate. It uses low-level stimulation—similar to a light tap—to get the dog’s attention and guide behavior. When used correctly, it is not painful or used as punishment, but instead serves as a clear extension of the handler.
For many dogs and owners, this training opens the door to greater freedom and flexibility in everyday life. Whether it’s reliable recall, off-leash adventures, or improved responsiveness in real-world environments, the e-collar provides the level of communication needed to safely give dogs more freedom while maintaining control.
The goal is always clear communication—not punishment.
Before any training takes place, the e-collar is carefully conditioned so the dog fully understands what the stimulation means and how to respond.
This process ensures:
Clear communication
Fair expectations
Confidence-building learning
No confusion or fear
My goal is always to introduce the tool in a way that supports the dog—not overwhelms them.
My Approach
When added to Board & Train → program becomes 4 weeks total
When added to Day Training → completed over 2 weeks
This allows time for proper conditioning, understanding, and application.
Program Options
Proper education for owners is one of the most important parts of e-collar training.
You will learn:
How to correctly use the e-collar
How to understand levels of communication
How to apply the system fairly and consistently
Each owner receives two go-home lessons, where you’ll be guided through hands-on training to ensure you feel confident and comfortable using the tool correctly.
Owner Education
If you’re interested in adding e-collar training to your program, I’d be happy to discuss whether it’s the right fit for your dog.
